چکیده

The decompositions of the skin-friction and heat transfer coefficients based on two-fold repeated integration in hypersonic transitional turbulent boundary layers are analyzed to explain generations wall skin friction transfer. Reynolds analogy factor slightly increases as temperature decreases, especially for extremely cooled wall. integral analysis is applied overshoot behaviours layers. coefficient mainly caused by drastic change mean velocity profiles, primarily due viscous dissipation. In layers, increase significantly decreases. effects gradients shear stress contribute dominantly friction, have weak correlations with temperature, except strongly condition. condition high Mach number can enhance effect stress, weaken impact gradients. Furthermore, magnitudes dominant relative contributions gradients, pressure dilatation, dissipation flux

Transitional-turbulent spots and turbulent-turbulent spots in boundary layers.

Two observations drawn from a thoroughly validated direct numerical simulation of the canonical spatially developing, zero-pressure gradient, smooth, flat-plate boundary layer are presented here. The first is that, for bypass transition in the narrow sense defined herein, we found that the transitional-turbulent spot inception mechanism is analogous to the secondary instability of boundary-laye...

Rough-wall turbulent boundary layers with constant skin friction

A semi-empirical model is presented that describes the development of a fully developed turbulent boundary layer in the presence of surface roughness with length scale ks that varies with streamwise distance x. Interest is centred on flows for which all terms of the von Kármán integral relation, including the ratio of outer velocity to friction velocity U+ ∞ ≡ U∞/uτ , are streamwise constant. F...

Boundary Layers and Heat Transfer on a Rotating Rough Disk

The study of flow and heat transfer over rotating circular disks is of great practical importance in understanding the cooling of rotatory machinery such as turbines, electric motors and design and manufacturing of computer disk drives. This paper presents an analysis of the flow and heat transfer over a heated infinite permeable rough disk. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the elliptic Nav...

Vortex Dynamics in Transitional and Turbulent Boundary Layers

The dynamics of transitional and turbulent boundary layers is explored via a hybrid vortex filament/finite volume simulation scheme in which vortical structures are identified without the constraints imposed by the traditional assumption that they are synonymous with rotational regions. Vortex furrows consisting of elongated, streamwise-oriented, raised perturbations to the wall vorticity layer...
